Baglio di Pianetto (Sicilia)

Baglio di Pianetto stems from the desire of its founder to create a wine that celebrates the uniqueness of the Sicilian terroir through the savoir faire of the great French chateaux.
A challenge born out of the love for the land and its fruits which since 1997 has pushed Count and Countess Paolo  and Florence Marzotto to innovative and daring choices, in full respect of territorial identity.
Today, the second and third generation alongside the founder in this endeavor with the same devotion and the same enthusiasm.

Pianetto countee is located nearby the village of Santa Cristina Gela, in the area of DOC Monreale, near Palermo. Its vineyards are located at an altitude of about 650 meters above sea level.
The area is constantly ventilated and subjected to high temperature changes between day and night. In this mountain location winters are harsh and rainy. The Ficiligno soil, which is clay-siliceous rock with friable substrates, has gradients ranging between 10% and 20%.

With 88 hectares  located at 650 meters a.s.l, Baglio di Pianetto grows Insolia, Catarratto, Viognier, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
